OVERVIEW

To celebrate a milestone 75 years in the making, MotorTrend partnered with Castrol on a yearlong anniversary journey as HOT ROD revisited seven and a half decades of cars, customizers, builders, and technical breakthroughs. Castrol's EDGE and GTX brands were woven seamlessly throughout, earning unprecedented cross-platform exposure among performance enthusiasts and DIYers.

The 12-month rollout delivered a robust mix: official logo integration, editorial features, co-branded promotions, targeted brand media, sponsorship of HOT ROD's digital archives, and a full-season sponsorship of HOT ROD Garage — plus high-impact activations at HOT ROD Power Tour and HOT ROD Drag Week.

To further embed Castrol in the storytelling, HOT ROD Garage executed two ambitious anniversary builds powered by Castrol GTX — including the iconic Project X '57 Chevy and a dedicated land-speed racer at El Mirage, the birthplace of hot rodding.
